Exhibition «Snowwhite and Redrose» 10.07 – 28.07
Young finnish artist is working in different print techniques. Anni Viinikainen was born in 1982 in Kotka(Finland). She was studing at the Turku`s University (history of arts) 2002-2004, in the St.Petersburg State Academy of Arts 2007, she was at Massan`s school (Barselona, Spain) 2007, at the University of applied science (South Karelia) 2008, she finished courses of a Portrait painting (Finnish fond of Culture) 2008. Now she is working as a teacher and designer in the graphic studio for children and youth in the South Karelia Museum (Lapeenranta).
The title of the exhibition take us to fairytale by Brothers Grim «Snow White and Red Rose» about two sisters. They are very different from each other but very close. The title is a metaphor of friendship that has to face many problems: politics, class bounds, war, prejudices, separation and hiding. The red and white colors of the works have symbolic meaning, white is the color of the innocence and the hope, red – of the blood and the war.
Anni`s works are touching and in the same time they have short-spoken and adjusted style. Anni is making series of serigraphy, using photos, her own drawings, computer graphics. Her works are almost monochrome, on the snow-white background there is a light accent of pale shades. Images of that series are personification of dreams of the girl. They appear as nice absurdity (horse on the skates) and in fantasy about riding clouds on finish sledge.
